The Food Technology Student Association (HIMATEPA) of the Faculty of Halal Food Science (FIPHAL) at Djuanda University (UNIDA) held a Bakery Training session for dozens of high school and vocational school students from the Greater Bogor and Sukabumi areas on Saturday, February 10, 2026. The event took place in the classrooms and Food Laboratory of FIPHAL UNIDA.
The Executive Chairperson, Siti Nurjanah, explained that this training equipped participants with basic baking skills, ranging from an introduction to ingredients and dough processing techniques to the baking process. Participants were also provided with an understanding of food safety, product halal certification, and the development of creativity in creating nutritionally valuable baked goods.
The Dean of FIPHAL UNIDA, Dr. Ir. Helmi Harris, M.Si., stated that this training serves as a strategic tool for building technical skills while fostering creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit among the younger generation.
As a guest speaker, Ms. Titi Rohmayanti, S.Si., M.Si., introduced the concept of healthy baking by utilizing local ingredients such as mocaf flour (Modified Cassava Flour) and rosella. This innovation not only produces delicious products but also healthier ones due to their fiber and functional components.
Beyond health benefits, these locally sourced bakery products also hold economic potential as opportunities for creative businesses. Participants also gained hands-on experience, such as making muffins, which was the most engaging part of the activity.
Through this training, HIMATEPA UNIDA hopes that participants will enhance their knowledge and skills in the production of safe, halal, and nutritious baked goods, while also fostering local food innovation among the younger generation.
